Every Thursday, we continue with the same national or community grant priority featured during Monday's Grant Research & Readiness Workshop. Monday was about doing the research and preparing the foundation. Thursday is about learning how to use that information in the grant-writing process. Using one of our 25 Grant Writing Workbooks, the research and Program-Specific Questionnaire developed Monday, and the Grant Builder Pro Max Genius, we'll work together to understand a grant opportunity and develop and review a working grant draft. THURSDAY BUILDS ON MONDAY During Monday's workshop, we worked through: RESEARCH + PROGRAM PLANNING + PROGRAM-SPECIFIC QUESTIONNAIRE + BUDGET + BUDGET NARRATIVE + RAGGEDY OR READY™ PROFILE + GRANT FINDER Now we're going to put that information to work. STEP 1 — LEARN THE GRANT-WRITING PROCESS FOR THIS WEEK'S PRIORITY We begin with the matching Grant Writing Workbook for the week's priority. The workbook helps us explore the grant-writing process through topic-specific examples, sample documents, exercises, and common proposal components. Depending on the funding opportunity, we'll explore areas such as: ✓ Statement of Need ✓ Target Population ✓ Program Description ✓ Goals and Objectives ✓ Program Activities ✓ Organizational Capacity ✓ Partnerships and Collaborations ✓ Outcomes and Evaluation ✓ Sustainability ✓ Budget ✓ Budget Narrative ✓ Supporting Documents But we're not simply filling in blanks. WE WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE FUNDER IS ASKING—AND WHY. STEP 2 — REVIEW OUR GRANT OPTIONS Monday, we used Grant Finder in Grant Builder Pro Max and our Program-Specific Questionnaire to explore potential funding opportunities. Thursday, we'll return to those results. We'll review potential opportunities and discuss funding fit before beginning our classroom draft. We'll consider questions such as: ✓ Does our program align with the funder's priorities? ✓ Does the organization appear eligible? ✓ Does the grant support our target population? ✓ Does the funding amount make sense for our program? ✓ Can our activities address the funder's objectives? ✓ What information or documents are required? ✓ Are there gaps that need to be addressed before applying? STEP 3 — SELECT OUR CLASSROOM GRANT Next, we'll select a grant opportunity to use for our hands-on classroom exercise. We'll examine the funder's requirements and connect its questions directly to the research and Program-Specific Questionnaire developed Monday. This is where participants can see why grant readiness comes before grant writing. MONDAY BUILT THE KNOWLEDGE BASE. THURSDAY PUTS IT TO WORK. STEP 4 — USE THE GRANT BUILDER PRO MAX GENIUS NOW LET'S BUILD THE WORKING DRAFT. We'll use the Grant Builder Pro Max Genius to assist us in developing a working grant draft. But we're not starting with an empty AI prompt. We'll ask: ✓ Did we answer the funder's actual question? ✓ Is the information accurate? ✓ Is the response supported by our research? ✓ Does the need connect to the proposed program? ✓ Do the activities support the objectives? ✓ Are the outcomes measurable? ✓ Does the budget align with the narrative? ✓ Is anything missing? ✓ What needs additional research or verification? ✓ What should be customized or strengthened? This is an important part of learning to use AI responsibly in grant development. THE GENIUS ASSISTS. PEOPLE RESEARCH, REVIEW, VERIFY, AND MAKE THE FINAL DECISIONS. THE GOAL IS A WORKING GRANT DRAFT The objective of Thursday's workshop is not to promise that participants will leave with a completed, submission-ready grant. Every funding opportunity has its own eligibility requirements, questions, attachments, deadlines, certifications, documentation, and submission process. Instead, we'll demonstrate how to turn good research and organized program information into a working grant draft that can be further: RESEARCHED • VERIFIED • CUSTOMIZED • REVIEWED • STRENGTHENED • COMPLETED before submission to a funder.
